Ans. John Milton's intention in writing "Paradise Lost" is
to assert the everlasting wisdom of God and His grace for mankind and to
convince them that the ways of God to men are always just and merciful. (b) How
does Donne use personification in "The Sun Rising'?
Ans. Donne uses personification in his poem, "The Sun
Rising" by calling the Sun a "busy old fool, unruly sun”.
(c) What is Marvel's opinion about grave?
Ans. The poet assures his beloved that the grave is a fine and private
place, where none can enjoy the pleasures of love-making.
(d) How did a man, according to Herbert, become nearer to God?
Ans. According to Herbert, a man could become nearer to God having
been cleansed of his sins through suffering, repentance and God's forgiveness.
(e) What does 'Una' stand for allegorically?
Ans. Lady Una, the heroine of The Faerie Queene, Book-1, is the
